First-Next and
Individual Schedule

First-next visuals are a great way to encourage independence and build understanding and capacity for individuals who may struggle with where to start or what is going to happen.

Starting with step 1 (or a non-preferred activity, depending on how you plan to use these visuals) allows individuals to understand the steps they need to take and, if using them for task avoidance, allows them to see a preferred activity is coming up.

As the individual progresses in their ability to follow the tasks/steps/activities set out for them, you can start to build on their capacity by adding in steps (first-then-next) and, when you feel they are ready, you can move to the mini schedules which allow 5-6 activities/steps/tasks.

This download is 11-pages with different options and progresses from 2 steps/tasks/activities to the personalised schedule of 5-6 steps/tasks/activities. In the document there are also 2-pages of visual task cards to use. As well as this, you will receive an editable card template document to create your own visual task cards as needed.
